So I'm working on building a demo database for a demo I have coming up. I uploaded a sample project of theirs that was complete and I'm looking it over. I notice that NONE of their resources are overallocated. (NONE!) This seems odd since I rarely see a completed project with absolutely NO overallocated resources so I go into troubleshooting mode.
I insert the Peak field and I see that they are all 0%. WHAT!? They all have Actual Work since the project is completed! How could Peak be 0%?
I start thinking there is some odd issue (I'm on Beta 2 Tech Refresh) with importing it is because it is a 2003 file. So I'm manually recalc'ing the project, saving it off as an MPD file back in 2003, all the things you do to fix a project that might be having 'issues'.
Then it hits me! Is it possible? So I check.
I create a sample project with one task in it. I add a resource at 200% units. I look at the resource sheet and Peak is 200% and the resource is colored red! Then I mark the task 100% complete and Peak goes to 0 and the resource is not red!
I repeat the experiment in the existing project (just to make sure it is not the 2003 import thing I was thinking earlier) and it works the same way in the imported project!
WooHoo!!! In Project 2007 Actual Work does not count toward marking a Resource as overallocated.
First multi-level undo and now this! :-)
